ProgramsCSC teams fall into 4 groups: Micro-Soccer, Interleague, Advanced, and the Adult Fun League. The coaches for these teams are volunteer coaches and parents with varying levels of experience and certifications, and unbound commitment and enthusiasm. The Club's Technical Director provides regular focused training sessions for each group in basic skills and tactical development, and manages coach training and certifications. Micro-Soccer Children ages 3-5 (U4-U6) participate in our Micro-Soccer Program. This program emphasizes development of rudimentary ball handling skills in a fun setting. Children learn to become comfortable with a soccer ball in structured play. They are assigned to teams, and develop comfort and familiarity in playing the game with the same kids and families each week. Teams practice once a week and play 3v3 matches on Saturdays during the season, where keeping score is irrelevant. The focus each week is a lot of praise and encouragement and many opportunities for success. Children who play in the U8 age division start their transition to the Developmental and Advanced Division. Children start to learn the Laws of the Game, but fundamental skills remain the focus. Practices are once or twice each week, depending on the coach. Regular technical sessions by the Club's Technical Director may enter into the practice schedule as well. Weekly matches are run with a single, US Soccer Federation-certified referee. At this level, U8 teams play 5v5, there is no goalkeeper and offsides is not enforced. Interleague As children's skills and interest develop, teams move into the Interleague Program for U10 and above. Our Interleague teams play under a cooperative agreement with other area soccer clubs, giving our player a broader range of competition to foster player development. Practices are at least twice a week, possibly three times, depending on the Technical Director schedule and the individual coach. Offsides is strictly enforced in the weekly matches, employing three USSF-certified referees for each match. U10 teams play 6v6, and U12 teams play 8v8, with a full transition to 11v11 at U13/U14 and above. Advanced Our Advanced Teams are formed based on player evaluations and play within the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League, a competitive advanced league with member clubs throughout the Tidewater area. The Adult Fun League was created to meet the needs of all those parents who wanted to join in on the fun that the kids get each week playing soccer. This league was designed for those adults whose first contact with a soccer ball was probably when they had to buy one for their child, although all skill levels are welcome to play. Practices are optional, and all games are played on Saturday afternoons at the Centerville Soccer Fields. Games are played 7v7 with a single USSF-certified referee, on a U10-size field. The focus for these matches is 'No injuries' and lots of fun.
